Champaign, IL - Annual Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon Training Kickoff happening Saturday, Feb. 10
The symposium was developed to educate runners planning to compete in the upcoming Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon on April 26, 27, and 28th.
The Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon is less than 80 days. Most who will be running the Marathon should have already started their training and be setting into a nice stride. Those running one of the shorter races, make sure you are starting now. The Runners’ Symposium will be a great help to those already training to help them with any current questions to help them over a hurdle and those just starting to inspire them and help them get started.
Any runners. While the event is timed to help the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon runners with their training, any runner will benefit from the free education and opportunity to talk to vendors and other runners.
This year’s symposium featured speaker will be American distance runner and three-time Olympian, Craig Virgin. Raised on a family farm near Lebanon, Illinois, Craig was born with a life threatening congenital urological disease that led to a childhood of surgeries, doctors and tremendous pain. After receiving a reconstructive surgery in the 8th grade that gave him the ability to physically function normally, Craig began his running career his freshman year of high school. Despite being diagnosed with a life-threatening disability, Craig discovered he had a talent for running and went on to become a 9-time Big 10 individual champion at the U of I and the only American male to be on three Olympic teams in the 10,000 meters. www.craigvirgin.com
