Champaign, Ill - Joanne Miller, president for Central Illinois Orchid Society shares tips and more on this unique flower.
Each one grows in it's natural setting, if they can grow the orchid in a person's house, or if they have to have a greenhouse, and what kind of media you grow them in. The following is key for orchids depending on the type of orchid it is: fertilizer, extra humidity, natural light or a florescent lighting system, temperature ranges, and how you water them. They all have just a little different growing culture, also. Some are terrestrial, and grow on the ground and others are epiphytes that grow on treetops. Each orchid has different colors, shapes and patterns.
