Champaign, Ill. - Quilters from across central Illinois will be gathering for the annual Festival of Quilts for the Cunningham Children's Home.
• The festival is Cunningham’s largest fundraiser and honors the tradition of the United Methodist Women, and the quilts they, and quilters from across Illinois, have donated for our kids for more than 100 years. We raised more than $66,000 last year.
• For a suggested $5 donation for admission, there’s something for everyone! In addition to the Quilt Show of traditional and contemporary quilts, we have a silent auction, speakers, gift shop and bake sale, the Patchwork café, walking tours and more.
• This year’s event features two guest speakers. Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m., Deborah Fell will present stories of hope that inspire her work. Fell, a full time studio artist committed to the art quilt medium, is a professional member of the Studio Art Quilt Associates and Art Quilt Network. Well-known quilt teacher and lecturer Sherry Fourez Sollers will present her miniature quilts on Saturday at 11 a.m. Sollers is a competitive quilter throughout the Midwest.
• The Festival of Quilts will again be a recognized gallery of the Boneyard Arts Festival, a four-day event which brings together area businesses, organizations, and artists promoting the cultural vibrancy of our community.
