ILLINOIS STATE FAIR -- History is serious fun and games at the Illinois State Fair!

Did you know that popcorn is the official State Snack Food of Illinois? That's just one of the things you will learn as you play "Wheel of History" at the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (IHPA) (www.illinoishistory.gov) booth at the Illinois State Fair!

IHPA unveiled the game this year as a new way to get people talking and thinking about local and state history. Visitors to the IHPA booth get to spin the wheel and test their knowledge for fun prizes.

In addition to the Wheel, IHPA features a holographic Abraham Lincoln, a history "dress-up" photo booth (the agency will e-mail visitors their photo free of charge), and a bag-toss game built by a Civil War veteran.

IHPA manages the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum (www.alplm.org), which this year has partnered with ancestry.com to allow visitors to research their family history.

Click the video to learn why local and state history is so important and how you can visit the IHPA's 56 state historic sites.

To visit the "Wheel of History" at the IHPA booth, go to the Illinois Building; to research your family history, visit the Governor's Tent on the Fairgrounds.
