Summer Stage is an annual event that takes place each year in a different location in Campustown. It's important to create a destination event in Campustown this summer to draw the community to that area to support those local businesses during the heavy construction.
Kids Fest is being run by volunteers from local non-profits including the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, Crisis Nursery, The Courage Connection, The Up Center, United Way's ECL program, Second Wind Running Club and the Central Illinois Conservatory of Music. Suggested donation of $5 per child to get into Kids Fest. All proceeds will be immediately donated to all participating non-profits.
We have expanded Summer Stage to include a Kids Fest this year. We wanted to make the event a bit more family-friendly and draw a different crowd to Campustown. Kids Fest begins at 3 p.m. and is on John St. between Wright and Sixth. It includes Scovill Mobile Petting Zoo, carnival games, performances, an instrument petting zoo, glitter tattoos and costumed characters.
We also added an interactive activity during the concert portion of the event. Fat Sandwich and Sysco Foods are co-sponsoring the Big Fat Ugly Eating Contest! Contestants are encouraged to attempt to eat the Big Fat Ugly sandwich in 15 minutes or less. Prizes awarded to the 3 who get the closest. The contest will take place at 6:45 in front of Fat Sandwich on John St. To sign up visit and click on the Summer Stage logo.

The concert begins at 6 p.m. and includes; Mike Ingram, 90s Daughter and The Brat Pack. Emily Otnes who won our jingle contest will debut her winning jingle on stage as well.
