3D Printing, Cameras, Musical Instruments: What's New at Your Library!

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) -- If you haven't been to the library in awhile, you might not recognize it!

In one corner, you have people playing board games and in another a children's music program. Down the hall might be the record (yes, vinyl!) and CD collections, right near the guitar amps you can check out for your own garage band performance! At the computer lab, you will find technology that allows you to design and produce your own three-dimensional plastic pieces using a 3D printer, similar to the work of tool-and-dye machines.

Click the video to see some of the new additions to the Urbana Free Library's collections, including a GoPro camera.

That's just a sample of some of the unique collections local libraries now offer in addition to the books and online resources they have offered for years.

Though some technology, like the 3D Printer has to be used at the library, The Urbana Free Librayr lets patrons take much of the technology home. All it takes to check it out is a local library card. Cards are free and may require one or two pieces of identification, one with a picture, depending where you live. During National Library Card Sign-Up, libraries are urging everyone to sign up for these free cards and gain access to all kinds of new experiences!
