High-Tech Manufacturer Recruiting for Youth Apprentice Program

DANVILLE, ILL - A local advanced manufacturing company is finding a unique way to encourage high school students to enter the manufacturing field.  ThyssenKrupp Presta in Danville hosts a Youth Apprenticeship Program which takes Vermilion County high school students and shows them all facets of the high-tech manufacturing plant.

ThyssenKrupp Presta, which manufactures vehicle camshafts and other automotive equipment, provides students with an interest in manufacturing a chance to learn hands on skills to help navigate their way toward a future career.

"We pick fifteen students and we bring them into our plant and they go through all of our processes. They see how our lines are run, then they go through our supporting processes like logistics, safety, engineering, maintenance, and production." says Apprenticeship Coordinator Michael Barth

ThyssenKrupp Presta is currently recruiting for the 2018 apprenticeship program. It is open to Vermilion County high school students. Anyone interested should contact their school guidance counselor. Applications are being accepted through February 9th.
