Our Town Covington: Sweden Native Explains Love of Nature in Book

COVINGTON, IN - As a native of Sweden, Linda McGurk was raised to love nature. From the time she was a young child, she learned from both her parents and in school the importance of playing outside. However, when she moved to the United States, she learned that those same values were not always instilled in kids here.

"I came over here and I just didn't see that many kids playing outside, especially in the winter. Playgrounds were just deserted and I felt like I was the only one out there." says McGurk

It was this realization that has led her to write a new book called There's no Such Thing as Bad Weather. The book highlights how exposure to nature in Scandinavian countries differs greatly from that in the United States when it comes to school age children.

McGurk's book will be released in October and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
