Paris Comes Together to Create All Abilities Playground

PARIS, ILL - One Central Illinois community is coming together to make sure that everyone has access to a playground, no matter what disabilities they may face. Residents in Paris have raised nearly $300,000 dollars and devoted countless hours to create the All Abilities Playground.

Steve Gallagher has two nephews who have autism. He says he found it disheartening that they did not have a playground nearby that could accommodate their needs. It is one of the reasons he set out to build this structure in Twin Lakes Park.

Getting to see the park come together is something he says has been amazing to witness.

"Once we stepped back here yesterday and everyone left you just had to stand back in awe. It is finally getting completed. Its a great feeling of accomplishment and something everybody should be proud of." says Gallagher.

While construction of the playground is near completed, it will not officially open until later in May.
