"The Big Sick": Film Critic Chuck Koplinski, Dinner And A Movie

Sponsored by Savoy 16 IMAX

CHAMPAIGN, Ill - A young couple (Kumail Nanjiani & Zoe Kazan) deals with their cultural differences as their relationship grows only to have to contend with a crisis when one of them is diagnosed with a debilitating disease. The film walks a fine line between comedy and pathos and director Michael Showalter skillfully navigated these tricky waters, never overplaying the serious moments yet being able to find humor in the darkest of situations.  Kudos to Nanjiani for the insightful script that only stumbles a bit at the end. 3 ½ Stars (Chuck Koplinski) 120 minutes. Rated R. ART.
