"War for the Planet of the Apes": Film Critic Chuck Koplinski, Dinner And A Movie

Sponsored by Savoy 16 IMAX

CHAMPAIGN, Ill - After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar (Andy Serkis) wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. However, the coming of The Colonel (Woody Harrelson) and his forces threaten the ape’s survival.  Ambitious and sprawling, the technical work on display is a marvel as are the performances by all concerned. The emotional pull of this film is genuine but the pacing by director Matt Reeves nearly undoes everyone’s fine efforts. 3 Stars (Chuck Koplinski) 140 minutes. Rated PG-13. AMC-C, AMC-D, SAV.
