In celebration of our 20th anniversary, the 4500 employees of Nexstar Broadcasting and your local Nexstar stations will join together in a day of giving to the communities we serve. Follow along as we tell the stories of the local charities we’ll be working with on our Founders Day of Caring.

As a part of Founder's Day of Caring, WCIA 3, WCIX 49, and IllnoisHomepage.net will be volunteering on these projects:

Dodds Park Cleanup – City of Champaign Park District

WCIA Channel 3 (Nexstar) employees will volunteer their time to pick up trash along the Copper Slough drainage ditch within Dodds Park and along the banks and adjacent park areas which can get quite littered.

Ellsworth Park Cleanup – City of Danville Park District

Ellsworth Park is the entry way to the City of Danville and seems to always be littered with trash. WCIA Channel 3 (Nexstar) employees will volunteer their time on June 17th to walk and clear up this area as well as the rest of the park for the community.

Smoke Detector Installations – Champaign Fire and Red Cross

The Champaign Fire Department and Red Cross are partnering to help neighborhood homes and apartments that do not have smoke alarms and CO/Smoke Alarms. WCIA Channel 3 (Nexstar) employees will be out volunteering with the Fire Department and Red Cross helping to install these alarms.
