3 Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested

CHAMPAIGN -- Three men are charged with armed robbery after a series of hold ups at local banks and businesses. All three were arrested Monday without incident.
    43-year old Ronald Wilkerson, of the 1500-block of Honeysuckle Lane, Champaign; 34-year old William Jackson of the 1300-block Beech, Urbana; and 57-year old Prentice Taylor, of the 900-block of Gregory, Champaign, were apprehended.
    Police say Wilkerson was identified as a suspect in the robberies at Marine Bank and Central Illinois Credit Union (CICU). Jackson faces charges in both those robberies as well as one at Mobil Super Pantry while Taylor was identified as taking part in hold ups at the Mobil and CICU.
    Since February, five banks, three consumer loan locations and several other businesses have been robbed by suspects with weapons which were seen or implied. Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the investigation including the Champaign County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.
