Armed robber runs away empty-handed

SPRINGFIELD -- Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery. It happened about 8:00 pm, October 25, at Hardee's in the 2500-block of Stevenson Drive.

The suspect walked in, displayed a gun and demanded money. The cashier wasn't able to open the register and the suspect fled through the parking lot. He fired his weapon once over his shoulder while running.

He's described as a black man, in his 50's, 6'0", with a stocky build. He was wearing a black-hooded jacket, light-colored pants and had a tan paper towel over his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
