Counterfeit cash passed

SPRINGFIELD -- Police are investigating two incidents where counterfeit cash was passed at area businesses. Both happened July 27.

The first was at Dollar General, in the 2000-block of West Jefferson, about 7:15 pm. The second was at Dollar General, in the 100-block of North Grant West, about 7:30 pm.

In both cases, a heavy-set, black woman passed fake bills to the cashier while a tall, thin, black woman and black man caused a disturbance.

The first suspect was wearing a long, white t-shirt and ponytail. All three took off in a maroon, four-door Oldsmobile.
