Girl assaulted by man posing as officer

SPRINGFIELD -- Police are investigating an assault by someone pretending to be a police officer. It happened about 1:45 am, Sunday, February 17, in the 5300-block of Old Jacksonville Road.

A 16-year old girl thought she was being pulled over by law enforcement. The suspect approached the victim, asked for her license and registration, put her in his car then touched her on the outside of her clothing. The victim struck the suspect and was able to flee.

The suspect is a white man, in his 50's, about 5'10", slender build and graying hair. He was wearing thick-lensed glasses and driving a white, mid-sized, 4-door vehicle. It had a discolored hood, dents and a rotating white light.
