CHAMPAIGN -- Shootings were commonplace in the city the past few days. With gunmen still on the loose, police are leaning on help from the community. But, if you're hesitant to speak publicly, Crime Stoppers could be the answer.

The subject is almost taboo in neighborhoods where the shootings happened. When WCIA-3 News was covering the stories, people were extremely hesitant to talk on camera.

They say they're scared someone will come after them. Crime Stoppers could be just what they need. It's completely anonymous.

Let's say a caller wants to provide a tip. The call is actually transferred to a center in Canada. It's not run by law enforcement, but a private group.

No names are given and the caller is issued a number. The tipster uses that number to check on the status of the case each week.

Police are still looking for two suspects believed to be armed and dangerous; Kevin Akins and Qwantrell Ayres.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
