CHAMPAIGN -- New security measures at an area store helped keep a rifle out of the wrong hands. It happened at Rural King, on West Marketview, Thursday, February 27. Police say the suspect broke a window and got inside.

Security cameras followed the suspect looking for guns, but since the store has been burglarized before, guns are now locked away at night, so the display case was empty. Authorities say the suspect was wearing dark clothes and carrying an Illinois backpack with orange lettering. The suspect took off after failing to get anything.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
