Suspects stock up on stolen credit cards

UPDATE 4:15pm:
CHAMPAIGN -- Police remind consumers to keep their credit cards in a safe place. It comes after two men are accused of putting nearly $7,000 in fraudulent charges on two cards. The owners of the cards found they were missing when they noticed the charges.

Ben Newell of the Champaign Police Department says, people "...need to be aware of every purchase, be aware of people looking over your shoulders and be aware of where you keep your credit cards."

The suspects were caught on camera at various stores, mostly on North Prospect April 14th. You can see their pictures below. Both men were wearing ball caps, one had on what looked like a leather jacket. All the charges came within about three hours. It's not clear how the cards were lost.

CHAMPAIGN -- Police are investigating a case of deceptive practice. A victim says nearly $7,000 of fraudulent charges were made to his and his father's Discover credit cards. Both cards were in his wallet. When the charges were brought to his attention, he found both cards were missing from his wallet.

The charges were made Saturday, April 14, between 4:12 - 7:29 pm at Lowe's, Target and the Wal-Mart gas station on North Prospect, as well as Sears at Market Place Mall. Surveillance video shows two black male suspects.

One is wearing a white ball cap, black leather jacket, white t-shirt and faded blue jeans.

The second is wearing a blue Under Armour ball cap, blue-and-white checkered polo or golf-style shirt with light-colored pants.
