Woman victim of armed robbery

CHAMPAIGN -- Police are investigating an armed robbery. It happened about 10 pm, Saturday, February 8, in the 400-block of East Stoughton.

A woman walked down an alley just north of Stoughton after getting off a bus. A man, came up behind her, showed her a gun, forced her to the ground and stole her money and cellphone. He fled the area on foot.

He's described as a black man, in his 40's, average build but shorter in height. He was wearing a black-and-gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
