DELAND -- A Piatt County school is $10,000 richer. Deland-Weldon schools were finalists in a national contest. The Eagles won first place. A 3rd grade teacher wants to build a weather center as an educational tool.

She says it's bigger than just the money. The grant is from the Great American Insurance Group. A team representing the contest will attend the school in April to begin planing the weather center.

DELAND -- A Piatt County teacher's wish has come true. Kelli Benner is a 3rd grade teacher at DeLand-Weldon Elementary. She was a finalist to win $10,000 in a national contest. She won! The money will pay for a weather center at the school. A check presentation takes place in April.
