SPRINGFIELD -- The State Supreme Court struck down a law requiring some online retailers to charge Illinois sales tax. It found the so-called "Amazon Tax" unconstitutional.

It requires out-of-state internet companies to charge state sales tax, even though the company doesn't have a store or warehouse in the state. Land-based retailers argue it's only fair.

Illinois law still requires residents to pay those taxes when filing state income tax.
