ILLINOIS -- Hundreds of elderly inmates may have a chance to be released early. Several Chicago-area legislators are pushing a bill to give prisoners, 50 and older, a chance to go before the Prisoner Review Board to ask for early released.

Supporters say it would cut down on overcrowded facilities and save the state money since it's more expensive to house older inmates. They would have to have served at least 25 years of their sentence to be considered. Critics say the bill is unfair to victims and could even be unconstitutional.
