SPRINGFIELD -- Voters who don't want to wait until the March 18 primary don't have to. You can cast your ballot early at your county election office. Monday is the first day of early voting.

Registered voters need a valid, government-issued ID to show at their county election office during business hours within the next two weeks. The option is available for all registered voters. You will be asked whether you want a Democratic or Republican ballot.

Early voters have until March 15 to cast their ballots. The primary takes place March 18. Voters who cast ballots early cannot show up at the polls on that date. Votes cast early will not be counted until polls close.
