SPRINGFIELD -- Families torn apart by our country's immigration policies are calling on lawmakers to change them. The campaign called "Fast for Families" gathered by the Lincoln Statue outside the Illinois State Capitol Thursday.

The traveling group is part of a national tour to help gain support for immigration reform. Members ask lawmakers to do their part. They're looking for change and ask leadership in the U.S. House to call a vote for immigration reform this year.

Many cried for family members who have not been able to reunite with them in the U.S. The group asks people show support by fasting at least one day a week. The tour is expected to cover more than 70 congressional districts across the nation.
