Governor hopes upgrades to convention center will boost economy

SPRINGFIELD -- The state hopes upgrades to the convention center will have a ripple effect. The Prairie Capital Convention Center is getting a $16-million makeover. Part of the money comes from the state.

Governor Quinn says the upgrades will help bring in more tourists which brings in much-needed revenue for the state and local economies. The upgrades include a new entrance and lobby, plus more bathrooms and a food court.
