ILLINOIS -- The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency has agreed to see if it can better manage the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. The IHPA said it came to the decision to review its management structures after requests from its board of directors as well as pressure from House lawmakers.

House Speaker Michael Madigan (D) sponsored a bill to separate the library from the agency which passed the House earlier this year. Madigan said an independent Lincoln library would be able to enhance the landmark's value.
