"Ugh, it's typical."
Another day, another poll putting Illinois in an unfavorable light.
"That's just Illinois politics."
The latest, a Gallup Poll shows Illinois ranked 50th in the country when it comes the trust residents have in the government. 28% of residents polled trust the government. Rhode Island and Maine are tied for 48 with only 40% trust. Both states, like Illinois, are mostly Democratic.
"Well, it looked like mostly blue states had the lack of trust."
Tim Sheehan, who gets into Illinois politics says a lot has to do with the state's line of leadership.
"It's not surprising Illinois is in bad shape as far as trust is concerned, because, you know, two governors in prison and so on."
Former governors Rod Blagojevich and George Ryan were sentenced for crimes while in office.
"They were awfully bad."
Still others like retiree David Hunter are quick to pass the blame believing it's up to us to change the political landscape.
"They don't get out and get involved. They'd rather sit home and complain about it which accomplishes nothing, as you can see from where we're at now."
The poll was conducted June 2013 - December 2013. The states with residents who trust most? Republican states like Alaska, Texas and Nebraska.
