SPRINGFIELD -- A bill raising the speed limit to 70 mph on state highways is making its way through the capitol. Supporters say it will help businesses ship goods faster and put the speed limit in line with other states.

IDOT officials argue it would be a dangerous move. The agency is putting together a special report for the governor in hopes he'll veto any attempt.

The governor's office said he would review the bill if it makes it to his desk, but wouldn't say whether he supports it.
