ILLINOIS -- University of Illinois staff and alumni members were lobbying at the Capitol Wednesday. They told lawmakers they're concerned with budgetary issues including funding for the university itself.

Other concerns are Medicaid funding for the UI hospital, reducing administrative constraints on institutions of higher learning and funding for campus capital projects. While the university relies on public funds, the state's share of its budget has dropped over the years to less than 20 percent.
