ILLINOIS -- Lawmakers say now is the time to pay on the state's backlog of bills. State Senator Sam McCann (R) introduced a bill Wednesday. It would allow the comptroller to use unexpected revenue to pay $112 million in back wages for state workers. It would also pay down the backlog of old bills.

According to McCann, this is the oldest outstanding bill the state has. This bill would put the money in the budget for the current year and ensure those who provided the service to the state are compensated as agreed.
