ILLINOIS -- The State Board of Elections is fining Auditor General Frank Mautino's former campaign committee.
It now faces a $5,000 fine over a complaint he failed to report more than $350,000 in spending.
Officials have not ruled out Mautino's actions being illegal. However, the fine is for failing to submit detailed campaign documents.
Some board members say they wish they could take more action but were told to wait until after a possible federal investigation.
