SPRINGFIELD -- A suburban-Chicago man will now lead the republicans in the Illinois House. Representative Jim Durkin, of Western Springs, was elected Minority Leader Thursday.

He'll replace Representative Tom Cross who's stepping down to run for State Treasurer. Durkin was first elected to the House in 1995.
