Rutherford announces intention to run for governor

SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford says he's seeking the republican nomination in the 2014 governor's race.

Rutherford, of Pontiac, announced his candidacy in Chicago Sunday at the start of a three-day state-wide tour. He's been treasurer since 2010 and served 18-years in the Illinois General Assembly before winning that seat.

Incumbent democratic Governor Pat Quinn says he is seeking re-election next year.
