Simon says school mergers could save money

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor Quinn is looking at a bill to help public schools save money by merging. It's part of Sheila Simon's Classrooms First Commission.

The plan would let districts consolidate, even if their boundaries don't touch. Simon says it puts the needs of students first. The Senate passed the bill unanimously.
