SPRINGFIELD -- Now that concealed-carry is on the books, the state is trying harder to keep track of guns. Governor Quinn says the law will add another layer of accountability.

Crimes are usually committed with guns which have been lost or stolen. Now, owners will get harsher penalties if they don't report their gun missing within 72 hours.

People buying from a private seller will also have to do a background check. It takes effect January 1.
