On Wednesday's, Bob Goss is the kitchen crew chief at Champaign's Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.
"When you leave, you are tired as the crew chief for Wednesday, but you know you did the right thing."
He volunteers full-time. Been doing it for years. And, is also the president of the board.
"To me, it's a normal thing to do. Just to serve. It's just our nature, do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Goss says spending 26 years in the Air Force helped him get there.
He was in Vietnam and all he'll say about it... "It happened. It is true what they say about post traumatic stress. I'm proud of it. I know I did well and it did me well."
Teaching him everything he needs to know about serving his guests; the homeless and low-income families in Champaign, to appreciate life, appreciate people and leave judgment at the door.
"In fact, that's the one thing we do at the soup kitchen. We call the people there guests. We treat them like guests and serve them the same food we would serve at our house."
