RANTOUL -- Some veterans are stepping up and giving back to storm victims. The VFW donated $500 to relief efforts. They made the decision to give without hesitation.

Board members gave the check to Gifford State Bank earlier this week. Members say it's just one of many things they plan to do to help. VFW Post 6750 is used to helping the community. It holds dozens of fundraisers each year.

One board member is Tim Nixon. He was in the Air Force during Desert Storm and says the area is tight-knit and will stick together through all of this. The VFW says it's going to try to give more after they see how the town is doing and what it needs.
