CHAMPAIGN -- Two men are accused of a pair of armed robberies Sunday night, but they're not the only ones police tracked down at a traffic stop. Another car ran into an officer making the arrest.
Police say the passenger's side mirror of the SUV hit the officer. He was treated for minor injuries but is OK.
After 6 pm, police were called to the 600-block of East White Street. Three people reported being robbed at gunpoint by two men at two different times. The suspects reportedly left in a Lincoln Town car.
UI police found the car and Urbana police helped make the arrests. Officers say they're used to working on cases like this. The traffic stop and arrests happened on University Avenue.
20-year old Derrick Cox, of Urbana, and 17-year old Tavarus Murphy, of Melrose Park, face two counts of armed robbery. Investigators say they could also tie the pair to another robbery on White Street earlier in the day.
As for the people in the SUV, 31-year old Jeffrey Taylor was arrested for aggravated DUI and his passenger, Charles Meeks was arrested on an outstanding warrant for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and obstructing justice.

Police first responded to a call of a couple who was robbed at gunpoint by two men. A half-hour later, another report was filed and authorities determined the robberies were related.
Police stopped a Lincoln Town car matching the victims' descriptions. Five people were inside. Officials also found a loaded gun and the stolen items.
20-year old Derrick Cox, of Urbana, and a 17-year old Tavarus Murphy, of Melrose Park, are scheduled to be arraigned on two counts of armed robbery Monday afternoon. Armed robbery is a class X felony, punishable by 6 - 30 years in prison.
