2 arrested for campus theft; more crimes suspected

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- Two teens face charges for stealing an i-Pad over the weekend on the UI campus. Police say Jacob Richter-Shea, of Champaign, and Frederick Young, of Savoy, both 18, are charged with burglary and theft.

Authorities say the suspects were identified based on surveillance video. They were seen on security cameras fleeing the Illini Union after distracting a woman by asking the time and grabbing her device.

Investigators say the pair is also being investigated for 8 - 12 other thefts.
