CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- Two men arrested Wednesday with a shooting suspect are due in court Friday afternoon to answer weapons charges.
Tywone Mitchell, 21, and Jamonhe Watkins, 20, both of Champaign, were taken into custody when Marquise Burnett, 21, was arrested for Friday's murder of Darien Carter.
Mitchell and Watkins are each charged with one count of unlawful possession of weapons by a felon; a class 2 felony. They face up to 14-years in prison if convicted.
Bond on the men's warrants was issued at $500,000. Authorities say the charges are based on social media videos which reportedly show them displaying semi-automatic handguns with extended magazines.
Mitchell has two prior convictions for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and is currently on parole.
Watkins also has two prior convictions for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Officials say this case is an ongoing investigation and anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. Tipsters are always 100% completely anonymous.
All tips submitted to Crime Stoppers are electronically stripped of any personally identifying information and processed by a third-party answering service, not law enforcement.
Cash rewards of up to $1,000 are paid for information leading to an arrest. Tipsters will never be asked their name and are given a secret code number to use when checking on a possible reward.
