TAZEWELL COUNTY -- The first case of West Nile virus in a person has been reported here. It's one of two human cases in the state so far this year.

52 counties have found birds or mosquitoes with the disease. In Champaign County, those numbers are going up. Researchers say the hot, dry weather is a big reason why.

Last year, around this time, the state had more cases. In 2012, two people of the 290 infected, died from the virus.
