UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- UI police arrested four people in connection with an $80,000 drug bust. Investigators have been looking into the case for weeks.

Thursday night is when authorities got their hands on the drugs and the people they say those drugs belong to. But, it took some work to find all of it. Police arrested Tristan Cowart, Matthew Divittorio and Steven Funes for drug charges.

Officials started by searching one apartment in the 300-block of East Green. They found some drugs there, but not very much. Police say someone tipped the men off, so they moved the drugs.

Investigators went to a second apartment in the same complex where they found more drugs and money. But, most of it was at a third apartment; upwards of 21 pounds of marijuana. UI's Police Captain Roy Acree says there could be even more.

Police say Hali Balint worked at the management office of the apartment complex and was the one who tipped off the suspects. They say she's an ex-girlfriend of one of the men. They arrested her for obstructing justice.

Police also found cocaine, mushrooms and drug paraphernalia, but say marijuana is, by far, the biggest drug problem on campus.
