VERMILION COUNTY -- One person was airlifted to the hospital overnight after an accident. It happened on I-74 east, near Oakwood, just after 9:30 pm, Wednesday.

Police say a driver was waiting outside of a car after having engine trouble. Part of it was parked in the passing lane when a semi truck drove by. The semi driver didn't see the car and hit its front bumper.

The semi traveled through the median and tipped over. The driver was airlifted to the hospital. No word on the driver's condition. The person waiting outside the car was not hurt.

Some drivers were stuck on I-74 for more than six hours while crews cleaned the area. Part of the interstate was blocked until about 3:30 am Thursday.
