VILLA GROVE -- What should be the best night of a teen's life could easily end in tragedy, so the fire department wants teens going to prom to take a lesson from what they've seen. They staged a life-like crash with more than a dozen first responders and a helicopter in the scenario.

A student was taken away in handcuffs after drinking, driving then texting. The others in the car weren't so lucky. Community leaders say it's a lesson on the dangers of peer pressure. The department holds the crash simulation just once every three years so it's more powerful for students watching.
