The $500,000 will be spent on flights out east. Washington D.C. is the main goal. Right now, the airport only offers flights to Chicago's O'Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth. UI students who live on the East Coast have to use connecting flights to get home.
"That would be nice. It would be very nice. It's nice to know that they're actually taking interest into that. But it would depend mostly where the airports are going. But it would be a nice change of pace," said UI student, Sai Kalidindi.
Willard needs a few more months to figure out what airlines and airports would be involved. In the meantime, it has added one more round-trip flight to O'Hare making it six a day.
