Amtrak train accident causes delays

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- Amtrak passengers are being bussed to Champaign after a crash between a train and a car. It happened just north of Carbondale around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

It's not known exactly how it happened yet, but an Amtrak spokesperson says the train was coming from Chicago and headed to Carbondale.

The train is stopped in the southbound lane while investigators look into what happened. There were 31 passengers on board. None were hurt.

Investigators have not commented on the condition of the person in the car who was hit.
