CHAMPAIGN -- Workers are cleaning up roads to prevent accidents, but it's not snow they're worried about this time around. Now, it's flooding.
Public works is warning you of areas with rising water. The rain is melting the snow, but it doesn't mean drivers are out of the woods. There are some intersections you should avoid.
One of the biggest problem areas is 4th and Windsor. Since 4th Street is brand new, trucks don't lay down as much chemical. Without the salt, the slush isn't melting as quickly which is building up in sewers and causing flooding.
But, it's not the only problem area drivers should avoid. Plow trucks are clearing out inlets, so all of the slush and water has somewhere to go. They say, if it gets too bad in those areas, they'll bring in barricades.
CHAMPAIGN-URBANA -- There's a big mess on some roads because of the rain and warmer temperatures. All the melting snow left water on Windsor between 4th and Lincoln.
The area is down to one lane. Drivers are asked to avoid the area, or slow down as a precaution.
