Attorney General asks for appeal extension

SPRINGFIELD -- The state is asking for more time to decide whether to appeal a Supreme Court ruling on concealed carry. Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed a petition Monday asking for a 30-day extension.

In December, a federal court called Illinois' ban on concealed carry "unconstitutional." It gave the state until June 9 to put a law in place.

Madigan argues that ruling conflicts with other gun rulings. Right now the state has until May 23 to decide whether it will appeal.
