CHAMPAIGN -- Emergency crews were called to an area bar for a report of a large gas leak. Employees reported hearing a "strange sound" from outside the beer garden where the leak was discovered.

Employees evacuated the bar and firefighters evacuated about 150 people from nearby apartments as a precaution. MTD buses were used to provide shelter to people until they could return home.

Authorities say they believe the gas main was tampered with. Employees say two men were told to leave after there were complaints about their behavior. Officials think the disgruntled men may be involved in the crime.
